How to create a community product

To create a community product follow the below steps:

Step 1: Click ‘Add product’ at the top right corner, this will open a dialog box as shown below:

Step 2: For an online course, membership, or community, select the first option. Yes, all these 3 options are available in the same product type. You will see shortly how you can convert this product type into a community-only product. Enter a product name, description, and then click on the ‘Add’ button. Your product name is used to generate sales, checkout, and thank you page URL, so choose the product name accordingly.

You may want to customize the community sales page about what the community is about.

The system also generates a “purchase email” sequence with one email. This can be modified in the sequence module.

Step 3: Next, click on the product image to change it.

Step 4: Click on the Manage button on the product. Your community can be a combination of Content, Discussion, Announcements, and Members or you can choose to show only Discussions. You can also choose to make members visible to other members. These settings are available in “Product Settings”.

As shown in the screenshot above, you can choose to show welcome video, group rules in the content section, or you can completely hide the content by disabling “Show Content”.

To enable discussion, click on “Enable Community”.

To make members visible to other members, enable “Show Members” options.

Your community is ready. You can view it by clicking on the Dashboard option on the top right side of the screen.

Here is how the Content section will look.

Admin (Owner) can mark a post as an announcement. This will show all announcements in the “Announcement” tab. The latest announcement will also appear on the lower right side.

Members can post, like, and comment.

If you choose to enable show members, a member tab will appear in the dashboard. Clicking on the “Members” tab will show a member list.

Get ready to engage your community and upsell your products!

Note: At present, we don’t notify members automatically about a new post or comment. To have members come back to the community, it’s best to send a broadcast email to community members.
