How to segment your contacts

In general, there are two main methods for organizing your contacts. Some platforms utilize multiple tags to categorize contacts, while others employ multiple lists to segment them. Enlitly operates using multiple lists.

Within Enlitly, you can segment your contacts by adding the same contact to multiple lists. For example, the contact “Jane” can belong to both “List A” and “List B”. When sending emails, you have the option to select either List A, List B, or both. This is just one example; you can name your lists to reflect the status of the contacts. For instance, if you’re hosting a free live webinar, you might label your list as “1st Jan Webinar Attendees.”

Here are some things to know:

✓ Keep all contacts in one master list, which you can label as “Main,” “Master,” or “All Contacts.” This is useful when sending announcements intended for all contacts.

✓ When a contact makes a purchase and becomes a customer, you can transfer the contact from your campaign list to another list. Since purchases may occur outside of Enlitly and cannot be tracked, this transfer process is manual. However, we may automate it in the future for purchases made within Enlitly.

✓ Periodically organize your contacts to maintain a minimal number of lists. It can soon turn into too much segmenatation.

✓ Keep in mind that when you move a contact from one list to another, if the list is associated with a sequence, sequence emails will be triggered. Be mindful of this when transferring contacts between lists.
