How to import contacts

Enlitly supports Excel and CSV format to import contacts.

Before importing contacts, make sure that you have all the fields defined in the global fields. The import will match each column with the fields defined in the business’s Global fields. If a mapping is missing, the system will show you field missing error. Refer article how to define custom fields.

Next thing to know is that email is a required field. If there are no emails in the email column, system will skip these contacts.

The import option is available in 2 places in Enlitly.

– Users >> Customers >> Bulk Enroll

– List >> Manage Contacts >> Import Contacts (On the top right side)

Both options does the work of importing contacts along with the option to grant access to products. Granting access to product is optional.

When you click on import button, it will open up a popup where you will be asked to upload the csv file, select the list that you want to import contacts into and optionally select the products you want to grant access to.

Selecting a list is not required but its highly recommended. Without selecting a list, system will import the contacts but then you have to manually go to each contact to add to the list. Emails can be sent to contacts in a given list only.

However, make sure that the list is not attached to any sequence, otherwise sequence emails will trigger (unless you meant to send the sequence email to the imported list).

If you do not see the list name in which you want to import the contacts, go to the List module and add a new list. Refresh the page to see the added list.

Selecting products to grant access to the imported list will create a login account for the contacts. The contacts will receive a system-generated email with their login credentials and will also gain access to the selected products

On successful import request, you will see a notification on the bottom right side that “The import is in progress. Please check back later”. The import process may take some time. Time varies depending on the number of contacts to import.
